MYOPIA MANAGEMENT

LET’S TACKLE MYOPIA!

IT’S PREDICTED THAT BY 2050, MORE THAN 50% OF THE GLOBAL POPULATION WILL BE MYOPIC!

The number of children developing myopia, or short-sightedness, is increasing at a greater rate than ever before.

Increasing levels of myopia does increase the risk of serious eye conditions, like retinal detachment, myopic maculopathy, glaucoma and cataracts.

The great news is we have options to help slow down myopia!

UP TO 98% EFFECTIVE!!

MiYOSMART lenses are an effective, easy to use & safe way to manage myopia progression.

The British Journal of Ophthalmology found myopia progression was slowed down in up to 60% of children.

NaturalVue Multifocal 1 Day are also a safe and effective way to help control myopia.  98% of children showed signs of their myopic progression slowing down.

MYOPIA CAN BE INHERITED

Myopia can be inherited; if one or both parents wear glasses, this increases the chances of the child wearing specs.

Spending too much time on digital devices may be linked to a child’s myopia.

Not spending enough time outdoors in the sun has also been linked to myopic changes.

THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR

Sitting close to the TV or digital display devices.

Difficulty with seeing the board at school.

Issues with seeing objects in the distance.

Holding books very close when they are reading.

Blinking excessively.

Tired eyes.

Squinting their eyes.

Rubbing their eyes frequently.

MYTHS ABOUT CURING MYOPIA

There are no proven eye exercises to cure myopia.

Research has shown that under-correcting myopia with spectacles will not stop myopia progression.

Under-correcting myopia may in fact increase the risk of the myopic prescription increasing.

Prescribing under-corrected spectacles will cause distance vision blur, which can affect a child’s performance in school and sport.
